What kind of computer program do i need to mix music?

i am trying to mix some music for my cheerleading team but don’t have the right software and i was wondering what software i could download (for free if possible) to mix and speed up the music and things like that. i have a pc not a mac so i don’t have that garage band or whatever its called. please helpp!

If you’re going to burn to disk to distribute among the team I’d suggest you save and burn in wav format on a CD-R disk.
It will then play on any CD player, new or old.
Mp3 is not recognized by older CD players.
